According to media news report, India is elected as member of ITU member at ongoing plenipotentiary Conference in Dubai

According to media news report, India is elected as one of the 48 members of the International Telecommunication Union at the ongoing Plenipotentiary Conference in Dubai, media news report news report said.

Reportedly there are 193 member countries out which 179 were present on the day of voting and according to media news report, India got 165 votes in the region E  and stood at number three position after china and Japan.

Reportedly China garnered 167 votes while Japan secured 166 votes, said media news repot.

According to media news report, India has been the regular member of the ITU Council since 1952.

Reportedly the Plenipotentiary Conference is the highest decision-making body of ITU, the United Nations specialised  agency for ICTs and it is the United Nations family in bringing together  193 member states,  over 700 private sector companies and more than 150 academic institutions, said media news repot.
