Reportedly as part of deliberations, Liam Fox announced that the UK’s national export credit agency, UK Export Finance, has more then doubled its financial support to enable UK businesses to trade with India.

According to media news report, this means 4.5 billion pounds will now be available for UK companies  exporting to India as well as  Indian buyers of UK goods and services.

Reportedly the minister said the UK government would work closely with India to break down barriers to boost trade, media news report said.

Reportedly the move comes after amendment to the 49-year-old Enemy Property (Amendment and Validation) Act. The change in the law ensured that the heirs of those who migrated to Pakistan and China during Partition and afterwards will have no claim over the properties left behind in India.

According to media news report, in a recent meeting Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was informed that the survey of 6,289 enemy properties has been completed and that of the remaining 2,991 properties which are vested with the custodian will be completed, said media news report.

Reportedly according to the official said that Mr. Singh directed that those properties which are free from encumbrance should be disposed of quickly for monetisation.

According to media news report, among the 9,280 properties left behind by Pakistan nationals, the highest 4,991 properties are located in Uttar Pradesh followed by West Bengal which has 2,735 such estates.

Reportedly there are 487 such properties in Delhi. Among the 126 properties left behind by Chinese nationals, the highest 57 are located in Meghalaya followed by West Bengal with 29 and Assam has seven such properties, said media news report.

According to media news report, fire broke out after midnight in pub on a third floor of the building on Senapati Bapat Road in Central Mumbai, reportedly the building houses commercial establishments, including hotels, said media news report.

According to media news report, the injured have been admitted to KEM, Bhatia and Airoli hospitals.

Six fire tenders were rushed into service and the fire is now under control, said media news report.

Reportedly OP Kohli administered the oath of office and secrecy to them at the Sachivalay Ground in Gandhinagar, media news report said.

According to media news report, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National president Amit Shah, Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh and Chief Ministers of various BJP and NDA ruled states also attended the ceremony.

UNSC of UN need to reform and expand to handle the challenges of the world, says India Sat, 23 Dec 2017 06:14:41 +0000 [...]]]> Addressing a special meeting of the UN Security Council in New Delhi, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Syed Akbaruddin reiterated the need to reform and expand the 15-member UNSC said it in the meeting held New Delhi, and saying that a non-representative UN Security Council is simply not equipped to handle the the current challenges of the world. He reportedly said in Delhi, the reasons for  lack of success of international structures designed seven decades ago in dealing with the complex challenges of today are self evident.

India, a country of 1.2 billion people remains out of the permanent  membership of the UN Security Council. Four of its five members – US, Britain, France and Russia – supported India’s bid for permanent membership f the UNSC. China  has been opposed to so far. And move to reform and expand  the Security Council is itself moving at snails pace, resulting in frustration in international community. UK Prime Minister Theresa May hailed an important step on the road but Germany’s Angela Merkel reportedly said it would get even tougher. President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, broke the news that the 27 EU leaders  were happy to move on to phase two after they met in Brussels.

According to media news report, EU has published its guidelines for phase two of the negotiations, with  discussions on future economic co-operation not likely to begin until March.The three-page document reportedly says the UK will remain under the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice and be required to permit freedom of movement during any transition period.

Reportedly agreements on the Irish border, the so-called divorce bill and the the rights of EU and UK citizens, reportedly agreed by Mrs May last  Friday, must be respected in full and translated faithfully into legal terms as quickly as possible, media reports said.
